SECTION 1: THE BASICS Card Type Yáng Cost Yīn Cost Original Chinese Name Character Type (if any) Name (pinyin) [phonetic pronunciation] Innate abilities Abilities Original Chinese text1 Attack Power 1 As recorded in the Classic of Mountains & Seas Expansion Defence CARD TYPES DEITY Each deck must include one Deity, who acts as the Commander of your army and determines your starting life total. If the card doesn’t specify a life total, the default is 20. Every Deity comes with two abilities: one that’s active from the start, and another that can be unlocked using Jade. Once unlocked, the second ability remains available for the rest of the game - unless an opponent manages to disable it. MOUNTAIN & SEA DEITIES Each deck may include up to 3 Mountain and/or Sea Deities, with only 1 copy of each. If a Mountain or Sea Deity has an Offering (not all do), you can place it on the board, but it remains Passive until the Offering is paid. All Mountain & Sea Deities are classified as Divine Characters. When they are defeated, they are removed from the game entirely - they do not enter Dì Yù, but instead return to Nirvana. More about Dì Yù in Section 3.
