A further twenty li north stands Mount Shàngshēn [上申]. Above are no plants or trees, but many large stones; below grow many hazels and Hù [楛]. Its beasts include many Bái Lù. Its birds include many Dāng Hù [當扈], resembling pheasants, which fly by means of their beards. Eating them prevents dimness of sight. The Tāng [湯] River rises here and flows east into the Hé [河].
