The seventh central range, the Kǔ [苦] Mountains, begins at Mount Xiūyú [休輿]. Above are stones called Dì Tái Zhī Qí, patterned in five colours and shaped like quail eggs. These are Dìtái [帝臺]'s stones, used in prayer to the hundred gods; wearing them protects against venomous sorcery. There is a plant like yarrow, with red leaves and a clustered root, called Sù Tiáo [夙條]; it can be used for arrow shafts. From the English edition of Mountains & Seas.
